Hot off the press or in this case the spray gun!! Steel Mom – is presented here painted with a special kind of automotive paint that actually is composed of multicolored pigments that changes depending on the position of the viewer, angle of the form and primarily – the light.

Slinky Chicks Leap

Playing with my new favorite sculptural image – I’ve cut out a continuum of eight ascending scaled figures I named SLINKY CHICKS LEAP.

So I made them out of carbon steel, then painted them with automotive paint and loved modulating the color – cool on one side , warm on the reverse. I feel like animating a film with them at some point. I invited some friends to travel with them from site to site to photograph them climbing the stairs at the Walker Art Center, race their shadows at the beach and play in the super green lawn at Target headquarters they are really chromatic in the sunshine!Click to view slideshow.

New home for STEEL MOM

We beat the snow and installed STEEL MOM for a private collector yesterday!!

The stainless steel sculpture stands at human scale just above 5 feet tall. The textured surface comes alive with sunlight and especially moonlight ! The commission came at the completion of the newly designed grounds around a private home. The excitement on the faces of the garden designer and the installers was infectious as they carefully inserted her into the stone.

The proud owner felt “she” belonged there and all agreed the enhanced space was what they had hoped for.
